Fort Collins, CO
First up on this chilly morning was The Ride's first bath. Here it is basking in the sun after a shower of cold-cold-cold water... Unfortunately, this was about all the sun we would see today. By the time we rolled out of the drive, the skies were filled with dark clouds. Still, we were ready to ride somewhere, anywhere. It wasn't long before we broke 700 miles and by the end of the day we would have the 800 miles Tim thought we needed. Remember, Tim is a numbers guy. I see a sky full of stars - Tim wants to know how many. Ha!
Our Saturday ride took us in a roundabout way to High Country Harley-Davidson in Frederick, CO (just west of I-25) where we happened upon a large gathering sort of like a swap meat. Bikes tagged For Sale by Individual were parked everywhere. Some really nice rides at some great prices. We had stopped by to take a look at the tour pack racks, luggage and stubby antennas for The Ride, all of which we will add eventually. Tim found a pair of H-D shades he liked so I bought him a Mother's Day present.
We rode the eastern plains for the rest of the afternoon, stopping at McDonald's for a cup of coffee and cookies. Tim remarked as we stashed our helmets in the tour pack that he really liked the "trunk". I've heard the tour pack called a couple of other names, among them Winnebago and caboose. It is really nice not to have to tote our helmets in and out of the places we stop along the way.
We had a few miles with sun before rolling up on our neighborhood. The mileage clicked over 800 about six blocks from the house. The plan is to break 1000 miles tomorrow on my Mother's Day Ride if ol' Mother Nature will cooperate.
