Petty Charity Ride

May 5, 2010
Fort Collins, CO

Dad - waiting on Petty Wichita Falls, TX -- Ted (Dad) rode out this morning thinking he might see the riders come through Wichita Falls, TX on the Kyle Petty Cross Country Charity Ride. He waited for a couple of hours but must have just missed them. They stayed overnight in Amarillo.

The Kyle Petty Charity Ride Across America is an annual motorcycle ride that travels across the country to raise awareness of and funds for Victory Junction Gang Camp in North Carolina and other charities supporting terminally-ill children. Victory Junction was founded by Petty and his wife, Pattie in honor of their son Adam, who was killed on the racetrack in 2000. Since the Ride began in 1995, more than 6,100 riders have logged 7.9 million cumulative motorcycle miles and donated more than $12 million to children’s charities.

Inez (Mom) drove out to bring Dad the camera. Because he was parked on the side of the road, lots of people stopped to see if Dad needed help. Texas Folk are like that, friendly and helpful. Many of them commented something like "nice bike". Yeah, it is. Too bad he didn't get to see Kyle and all those riders - that would have been fun. We didn't know about it soon enough or we would have thought about watching them ride across Southern Colorado.
