Fort Collins, CO
Just before we rode out this morning, Tim checked yesterday's mail. Much to my surprise, the 7Eye prescription shades I ordered from SportRx.com came in almost two weeks early. They have a removable insert so they double as motorcycle protective wear and vehicle wear. This pic is me checking out my new shades in action.
We waited all morning for the clouds to pass, but they just got darker and darker as the day progressed. If we were still on the Old Ride, we would have looked at the clouds, made another pot of coffee and stayed in. But, we are on a new ride that needs breaking in and we want to ride it, so we are kind of eat up with new ride stupid. Defying Mother Nature, we rode out of the neighborhood, took a look at the clouds rolling in over the foothills to the west and rode east fast toward a tiny patch of blue sky over the plains.
Uh... that doesn't look good - ride away from it - quick!
This is the most blue sky we saw all day... love this train.
There was not enough sun for the Shadow Riders to come out to play today, so we had to settle for Window Riders - ha!
We rode over 100 miles under ominous gray skies in stout 25-35 mph cross-winds. The temps got cooler and cooler as the forecasted cold front roared through.
The ambient temperature was just over 40 degrees (see gauge in lower left corner of photo) when we broke 300 miles on the ride. We managed to stay dry. Finally, tired of fighting the wind and the chill, we turned toward home and finished off the day with a beer, a Mike's (well maybe two or three) and some BBQ ribs.
