Burger Run - YUM!

September 30, 2017
Saturday
Texas

This pic says it all... we need to ride. Ha! It has been rainy and muddy and the City has the street in front of our drive torn up and nearly impassable with mud and barriers but Tim managed to get The Ride out. We left the house around 2:30, rolled out by Lake Arrowhead and found ourselves rolling toward Jacksboro.

As we rolled into town, we considered the Dairy Queen - nah! And The Green Frog - nah! Let's see if Herd's is open. Yay! We have heard about the place but never caught it open when we were hungry. The old-fashioned no frills burger is great. The atmosphere is old burger shack - no dining area - eat outside. No problem. We loved it.

The Ride at Her's Burgers - Jacksboro TX

We met a couple who rolled in on a Harley Trike. We sat at the same table and munched on our burgers. They were from Lake Worth (near Fort Worth). As it turns out, Tim and the man we met were stationed at Carswell AFB at the same time. Small world.

Rode in just after 6 pm

Burger Burn

September 23, 2017
Saturday
Texas

Red River Harley-Davidson

No ride to report today. The man is working. However, the American Legion Post 202 Honor Guard was having a burger burn. And there was a good turnout.

RRHD has a cookout every Saturday during the summer months. They lend their cooker and tables and chairs and furnish meat and condiments for local non-profit organization fund raisers.

Lazy Sunday DQ n' more ride

September 17, 2017
Sunday
Texas

It was a Sunday off. We had storms due in but we looked to the skies and agreed they are not here yet. We rolled east on familiar farm roads and roamed around the Nocona and Spanish Fort (mostly a ghost town) area, stopping for lunch and ice cream at the DQ in Nocona. We eventually headed home through Bowie and around Lake Arrowhead where the skies started to look like they meant business. By the time we rode up in the drive it was spitting.

Donuts and cool rides

September 16, 2018
Saturday
Texas

We have a Saturday off and nothing much on the agenda but to ride. But first, we gather at the Highway Café (Jacksboro Hwy - Wichita Falls) for the monthly Biker Breakfast with friends and family. This gathering is several years old and always fun. Now that we live here instead of Colorado, we rarely miss one.

After breakfast, most of us relocate to Red River Harley-Davidson for coffee and donuts and a little more conversation (okay -BS).

We rolled out of RRHD under cloudy skies, with moderate winds and warm temps. after roaming the farm roads west of town we rolled up on a classic car show in Archer City. We stopped and strolled the square admiring quite a few cool rides.

Make a note - 100K

September 15, 2017
Friday
Texas

How kool is this! The HOG 100K patches and pins have arrived. We started riding and logging the miles about this time of year in 2008. Tim got licensed in August 2008. 100K in nine years is not too bad - most of those miles were achieved between 2009 and 2014.

Fee's Knic Knacs Cafe Labor Day Ride

September 4, 2017
Labor Day Monday
Texas

What a fun and tasty outing! Today we rolled out with Dad under blue and breezy skies for a ride to Ringgold Texas. Mom and her sister Alice followed in the car.

Our destination was lunch at Fee's Knic Knacs CafĂ©, a little eatery now housed in what was once a little resale store. Okay junk store. There's an interesting back story... the junk store owner would sell but the buyers had to take all the junk - um... er… knic knacs. Anyway, the reviews are great and Ringgold is a short drive east on Hwy 82 out of Henrietta TX.

On the menu today was Cajun Jambalaya and Boudain which three of us ordered. The other two (guess which ones) ordered liver and onions. The jambalaya was great! I cannot vouch for the liver and onions although word is it was tasty!

You have to stop and check the place out. On the outside it looks like a little dive (not that there's anything wrong with a dive because we love 'em) but Fee's is far from it. Small, cozy and nicely appointed. The wait staff was friendly and efficient, the place was squeaky clean and the food is excellent.

We are thinking Dad had to fight his Ride to keep from making a left turn at the Dq in Henrietta

We have arrived and everyone is in high spirits and hungry!

Lake and Dam Ride

September 3, 2017
Sunday
Texas

Here we had a perfectly fine Sunday afternoon... and Tim was standing around outside looking at the grass. Oh me! I decided I better nip that travesty of an idea in the bud so to speak. A few minutes later I step out with my boots on and helmet in hand. You see this grin? The Ride was at the end of the drive in nothing flat. Ha!

Saturday afternoon goofing off

September 2, 2017
Saturday
Texas

It's always a good sign when the Ride is pointed out of the drive. And it does not matter the length of the ride or where the road led us - any ride is a good ride.

Today's after RRHD donuts ride was not much different than a lot of our local rides. We gravitate towards country roads, little towns and bodies of water.
