May Day Ride

May 1, 2010
Fort Collins, CO

May Day Ride Mayday! Mayday! We are in serious trouble! We like our new ride so much, it's going to be darn near impossible to stay off of it. We're not even going to try. The house, the yard and the gardens are going to go to hell I think. Ha!

Tim took The ride out for a get acquainted ride this morning but he was back after 24 miles saying it was just too nice for me to be sitting in the house... he said we might as well get acquainted with it together. I didn't take much persuasion.

So, after a couple of days of intemperate weather testing our patience, we rolled out of the drive about 11am intent on putting as many break-in miles on The Ride as possible. There were winter weather advisories out so we didn't venture really far from Fort Collins but we managed to log 185 miles riding the country roads on the eastern plains.

Richard an Rochelle's Ride We rolled up to a stop light near Centerra Mall next to a motorcycle that looked vaguely familiar with a couple two-up who looked in profile familiar. As it turns out, the couple were friends we haven't seen in some time. She looked over and I said Hey! And then she said Hey! We stopped in a parking lot at the mall to chat for a little while. They went in On the Border for lunch. Being on that new bike budget we rode on, but not before we promised to get together for a supper ride soon.

Our new ride budget took us into a McDonald's later for a couple of ice cream cones and a cup of coffee. We rode under virga clouds all afternoon with the stereo blasting classic rock at near nuisance levels. FYI: Virga is an observable streak or shaft of precipitation that falls from a cloud but evaporates before reaching the ground.
